1980 Honda CBX
“Six Cylinder Symphony”
The Honda CBX was introduced in late 1978 and soon became “Too much motorcycle for its own good!”
It had a 1047 cc, 63.9 c.i., Double Overhead Cam, 24 valve, in-line 6 cylinder configuration with 6-28mm Keihin carbs, rated at 105 hp with 85 hp at the rear wheel. It ran the quarter mile at 118 mph in 11.6 seconds making it the fastest ever tested by Cycle World Magazine.
1980 was the last year of the original big HP motor and the only year the X was offered in black, the lowest production color. This almost flawless, two owner motorcycle is in all original condition and has been kept in a climate controlled collection and babied the last 38 years.
All 24 valves have been set within .001, with original Honda shims. It has recently had all carburetors rebuilt with new Honda parts, and vacuum synched. The entire brake system has been rebuilt with new original Honda parts.
This CBX runs extremely smooth and the only detractions are the minor blemishes shown in these photographs. It will make an exceptional addition to anyones collection.
